Is your mower hydrostatic if it is then you will need to disengage the drives there will be some sort of lever often under the seat that has to be engaged before it can be moved Hope this helps and good luck

when you say it does not start, what does it do? You can not push the mower in Neutral? what model is your mower?

917.276824 I pulled the back lever out to put in push and it doesn't give. The battery's dead and I need it moved into the front yard to charge it
