replaced screen + digitizer, screen goes black when closing it up

Hi! I've replaced my screen + digitizer on my iPhone 5. I dropped it over the weekend and it went to a white line only down the display. I replaced the screen and the put the plate from the old phone on the back of the digitizer. When I get everything back together, the screen works until I go to pop the screen back into the frame completely. The screen goes black. It is still connected to computer, being recognized, vibrating notifications etc, but no screen. home button works fine when I make the connection on the flex cable there without closing case completely. Looks like it's shorting or something when the full contact with the frame is made. I pop it back out, the screen comes back on.

Update (03/06/2017)

Solved: was a bad replacement screen.

Sounds like your flex cable is damaged.

See if the bracket at the back of the ear speaker it clips in securely, if is not, that bracket may touch something that will short.

Aftermarket screens are not 100% same as originals, so the plastic bit were the the clip of the bracket needs to go, may be a little to big.

It happened to me when i was replacing the screen on my daughter's iPhone 5s.

After cleaning the plastic edge where the clip goes in to and applying a bit of pressure on the bracket it clipped. Then i put everything back together and it worked.

I hope this works for you, or for other people who has same issue.

Is the backlight flex covered up? If so, I would try another screen. I had a defective 5s once where half the backlight stopped working when the screen was put in the frame.
