How to remove & replace broken rear tail lense.Not the bulb,the lens

I have a 2004 Passat 1.8T wagon. It has broken rear tail lense. It appears that the only way of removing and replacing it is to take apart the entire rear end !!! There must be an easier way ?!! Help

When you open the rear hatch you should have some sort of access to a couple screws that hold the taillight to the body. I don't have a Passat, so I'm not exactly sure where those screws would be. Try looking around where the weather stripping for the hatch is. After removing the screws, removing the entire housing will probably require disconnecting or removing the bulbs, so don't just yank it off.
