2001 Kia Rio - Steering wheel airbag deployed can I fix it

Go to the wrecking yard and get a new airbag from a similar car there are 2 screws on the back of the steering wheel to remove the old bag before removing the bag make sure your battery has been disconnected cause nothing spoils a day quicker than getting hit in the face by an airbag. there are usually 2 wires to connect the airbag there color coded so you don't mix them up and often different types of connectors so you cant plug them in wrong.the steering column stays put only the airbag need be replaced.However check the universals in the steering column as the force of a deployment can put a lot of stress on them. Some may need to be replaced. Hope this helps and good luck
