You can google a default BIOS password list, but as afar as I know, most Toshiba laptops will bypass the BIOS password if the left shift key is held down during boot.

Hope this helps.

* How long should one hold down the shift key?

* If successfully done, what should be expected to occur afterwards?.(i.g..Display, Beeping, etc)

* The reason I ask is because I am currently dealing with this issue. I was recently given an old computer[TOSHIBA Satillite L455D-S5976] from a family member. I’m an I.T student and really into computers hence as to why they even offered it to me. Of course, I accepted. Otherwise, it would have just been thrown away. Upon accepting the gift, I was informed of them no longer being aware of what the password to the computer was. Specifically, my area of study within ‘Information Technology’ is Cyber-Security. That being said, I was confident in my ability to solve this issue. However, I also expected to have at the very least been able to boot the computer to the usual point of; if not all, most computers request of password occurs.(If there is a password set in the first place). This particular request of password occurs immediately after pressing the power button. I’ve tried holding the [Esc] key down immediately after pressing the power button to initially turn the computer on. A different screen is then displayed, presenting two options: “press [F2] for SETUP, press [F12] for BOOT device selection menu.” However, if I release the [Esc] key to attempt to perfom either option, system returns me to the original screen. If I continue holding the [Esc] key while proceeding to perform either option, system return to the original screen as well. So, I am a bit lost, lol Any information provided to help me solve this issue is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
