replacement touch ribbon with original touch ID

I am working on an iPhone 6 for a co-worker and I have replaced his lcd, I am having a similar problem to this where the lcd won't display anything and if i do get it back on the wifi looks to be disabled. Also in the process of troubleshooting. I accidentally tore the ribbon cable from the home button to the MB. The home button was working just fine. My question is, if I just replace the ribbon cable will the touch ID still work once I get the phone working?

Yes, that cable is just a cable, no tricks.

Tom: So what you're saying is that if I have the original Home button I can attach it with a replacement cable and the fingerprint will work and there will be no error when I update the phone? Does the cable come with adhesive to attach it to the original home button? The one I'm looking at online doesn't appear to.

I just bought this one from eBay it seems to have a small strip of adhesive, I will know for sure when it gets here.

I was thinking you were referring to this one- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Home-Button-Flex...

It goes from the home button itself and attaches to the cable you purchased...

Tom: What do you think about installing this cable?

by

No it will not work. I meant the cable from logic board to button assembly, not any part of the button assembly itself.
