Hinge Broke off MacBook Pro 13" Unibody
A few months ago I was struck by a car while walking to school. I hit the ground with enough impact to completely snap the right hinge of my Macbook Pro 13" (Mid 2012) and crack the clutch cover. Now that I've recovered, I've done some research only to realize that it seems as though the hinge mount on the display (the part that you attach the hinge to underneath the screen) is what snapped, rather than the hinge itself. Now the screen is very wobbly and barely stands and I am also worried about compromising exposed cables. Here is a picture of the damage (I pulled the screen slightly back to show the separation): http://i.imgur.com/zJyODIK.jpg
Am I right in my assumption that the display is broken rather than the hinge or am I missing something? Is there a way to repair this without breaking the bank on a new display (the display itself works great!)? I plan on repairing the clutch cover but I need to know what's up with this first so I can do it all at once. Thanks for your help!
Is this a good question?
