what's the hard drive brand of my iMac

i've checked the about this mac/more info screens, but there's no system report button. i'm attaching 2 screen captures. is there some way i can tell the brand from these?

OK, sound like you have an older version of OS-X then. Look for the Porfiler app it does the same thing.

If your system is running you can access the drive model info and then goggle is to locate the maker.

Go to About This Mac > Click on More Info... button > Click on System Report... button, then open up if not the Hardware twisty, Click on Storage. Under Physical Drive: locate Media Name: Grab the number.

If your system isn't running then you'll need to open it up to locate the info off of the drive.

The reason you need to do this is each vendor Apple used requires a different sensor cable. But it turns out you can also swap out the sensor cable if you have your heart set for a different drive maker than what you currently have.

Let us know what you find and what you were looking at. There are a few more issues depending on what you are planning.
