Is there a replacement for Airport card, iMac mid 2010 21.5''?

Hi,

can anybody give me a hint where to find a replacement for my WLAN Airport card in my iMac from mid 2010, 21,5'', EMC 2389.

I have one with Atheros chipset installed and want to replace it by one with a Broadcom chipset to get handoff/continuity support.

I will open the iMac anyways since I want to install a SSD.

Thanks. tulf

Hi - Thanks, seen the comments, searched for wireless card BCM94360CD + adapter, but never found a statement, that it would fit into a 21.5'' iMac, especially not for a mid 2010 model.

Here's one adapter set but you'll also need an extension antenna cable and power cable: Broadcom card & adapter. An easier way is just using a USB dongle like this one: Bluetooth Adapter Dongle, GMYLE® Ultra-Mini USB Broadcom BCM20702 Class 2 Bluetooth V4.0 Dual Mode Dongle Wireless Adapter with LED.

Hi Dan,

I think I found a solution.

Since my iMac has an atheros wlan chip a Bluetooth dongle would be of no help.

The replacement by osxwifi seems to do it, there is no difference for 27 or 21,5 iMacs, as I expected.

But the price is a bit steep. But It contains everything I need, also seems to solve power an antenna problems.

Will think about it.

Regards
