Probable, you have a dead battery. Your device is no longer recharge-able. you will have to replace it to fix it. But I don't know how.

I would agree it is probably the battery.

Will it run while plugged in?

Whatever you do, Do Not Buy The Kindle Fire 10!

I absolutely hate mine! It's sluggish, wifi is spotty at best, and Bluetooth wipes out the wifi.

I was tricked into buying this by the customer service representative, he told me that Google Play store and apps would work... Lies!!!

The cameras suck.. all pictures are pixelized and blurry.

I loved the Fire HDX 8.9.. love love loved.. until it died. Used it every day.

I miss my 8.9 .. %#*@ you Amazon for screwing up a great thing!

I had 2 hdx8.9s. Both just would not come on. Happened a few months out of warranty both times I was told by a computer repair person that it could be screen, power connection, or battery. Too much to repair.

Thanks for the heads up on the Amazon 10. My 8.9 story is similar. All is well and suddenly tablet dies. Tried everything, no luck. I loved the 8.9 which has been discontinued. WTF?

Hold power button and volume button down together for 15 to 20 seconds and then release them together. Then hold power button normally like you would go turn it on. If it doesn't start__ try the steps again. This rebooted my wife's Fire hdx in the past. She has used the Fire every day for over 4 years and it is still a great tablet. She no longer uses our computers but uses the Fire for everything including printing to a wireless printer ( she downloads tons of knitting patterns and prints them from the Fire)

This is 3rd generation tech. Dead battery. Amazon says: "Too bad, out of warranty." Ordered 7-inch Kindle, latest model (available 12/27/2015), for $50. Amazon gave me a discount of $10 - so its $40. About what a new battery would cost and the new Kindle automatically backs up photos, etc., in the CLOUD.

The newest Kindle has a new operating system and will no longer run several of my games. Be careful! They are moving farther and farther from being android hook compliant.

Did you try holding the on button down for 30 seconds? Try that but don't forget to push it again to start it, I hope this helps. It worked on mine.

Thanks! You just helped me!

My Kindle died. I plugged it in to charge and nothing. I was told to hold power button down for a good 30 seconds. I did, let go and pushed power button again. It started right up and was 100 % charged. Try it!

It worked, it worked! I still hate this thing- if it's next to my i=phone, it completely loses it charge. Ugh.
