SOLVED: WAN port not working - Apple AirPort Extreme Model A1354

WAN port not working

My AirPort Extreme(A1354) 4th Gen has been overheating for a while and I've kept it going by keeping it's surroundings as cool as I can, Often with Medical ice packs and other such things. Overheating has been leading to some kind of random resetting and often disconnecting it from PPPoE but always on cooling it would start to work perfectly. This would happen upto 2 times in a day.

But I think the constant heating has led the WAN port to stop working so now I have no connectivity. Is there something I can do to repair/replace the WAN port and get it to work? And is there a solution to the overheating?

Options

There is not much you can do here on the logic board thats cost effective. Other than replacing the PRAM battery.

Given the age, its time of a new unit. Sorry ;-{

I'm going to open it up and see if the port is just lightly damaged and hope some good old fashioned fiddling can fix it.

Worst case I'll have a really powerful spare extender unit!
