from where in MacBook Pro the air is sucked in by fans?

hi

i'm a mac lover and i've seen all ur mac teardowns, and u do a great job, but i've had a question all my life! i know the hot air comes from the vents below the lcd or where the hinge is, under the black thingi below the lcd, but the air must be sucked in from somewhere and i dont think it's the same place under the lcd and the macbook pro doesnt have any holes like other laptops have under them! so how does it get in??

Chosen Solution

The same vent from which the hot air is expelled

Hot air rises, flowing out the top side of the vent(back) and cool air is drawn in the bottom of the same slot.

The advantage is that by using one slot there's no "intakes" to block, and a venturi effect increases the efficiency of air exchange.

Without removing hot air, no cool air could flow in. It's the same way in a forced air heating/cooling system for your home works, but because of the larger volume the cold air return and the hot air inlets are farther apart.

With your MPB open, the air is flowed through the right side of the vent (where the right fan is), and exits on the left side of the vent. There is typically a 10deg F difference on mine.
