Why don't I have power?

I picked up a water damaged MacBook Pro that was DOA. No power and a dim green light when connected to the MagSafe. There was zero visible corrosion on the logic board. Since the previous owner claimed it was a water spill on the keyboard I installed a new keyboard and I/O board. The only thing that's changed is the MagSafe appears to be working properly. I still have no power.

I reset the SMC and the MagSafe reacted with color change, so I assume the power button is working on the new keyboard. I tried the power pads but still have no life other than the MagSafe.

Any other suggestions?

You'll need to do a detailed inspection of the main logic board, clearly there is some damage still present. Maybe in the process of cleaning you (or the other person) knocked off one or more components off or they are burnt. Compare with the IFIXIT photos.

If you have a DVM and the schematics for this system you could try checking the power rails.

On closer inspection I found a component on the board that whose connectors appeared to be burnt. It was near the I/O power board connector, but on the opposite side of the logic board.

Take a good closeup picture of the area as well as one at a slight distance so we can reference the area. Post them for us to see. We maybe able to aim you at the needed component.
