How to reinstall the microphone?

Recently I had to take out the keyboard and install a new one due to water damage. The keyboard is now working great, as is the rest of the computer. However, the microphone no longer works. The adhesive came off of the pre-installed location and I can't seem to get it back in the right spot. It will occasionally pick up sound, but then other times nothing will be picked up. Any tips on how to align it with the microphone holes on the chassis, and attach it?
