Replacing dead HD for MacBook Pro concerns

Hello, I got the toolkit from you guys and it is amazing. I want to replace the hd on a macbook pro my friend gave me since its dead. If i was to buy thhis hd, http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Laptop-2-5... , would te directioins remain the same.

Also, if I replace the hd with this one, or any one thats compatible, what would happen when I boot it, I do not have the os disk. So how would the machine work?

Thank you for your time.

you would need a OS mounted on a USB or on a disk to boot from so it can install the OS too your HDD.

If you know someone else with a Mac, ask them to download the Yosemite installer and create an install USB:
