how to replace home button

We have successfully taken off the glass lid but the home button is still attached to the old glass front? The replacement part we got didn't come with another home button? Did we get the wrong part?

Please advise.

Which version of iPod Touch do you have? If you are unsure, check out the ID your iPod tool. The parts between versions are not interchangeable, so it's important to know which version you have before further advising.

This would be the part that you need, it includes the home button, unlike the front panel.
