This is either bad screen, or (more likely) a teeny bit of some kind of plastic or something stuck on one of the pins of your digitizer connector--either on the board or the screen. Check for that. If not, then replace the screen to solve.

Thanks. I would think more would be wrong if there is foreign material stuck on a connector. Everything works perfect EXCEPT those 2 keys. I appreciate the guidance. I'll tear it down today. - Tom

Does this happen in portrait and landscape?

by

That was an excellent question. The answer is no. Those keys work fine in landscape. Why is that?

by

They are in a different position on the screen when in landscape. My guess is that you have a tiny dead spot on the screen. I'm guessing the 6 doesn't work either and that if you use an app that isn't optimized for the 6, it'll behave differently because the keyboard is rendered larger. As suggested, check and reseat the connectors. Just to save some money, I'd try an OS restore via iTunes if the reseat doesn't work (i could be a funky software problem after all). I'm betting that you got a bad screen though, so you'll probably end up having to replace it.

No--debris that blocks a single pin on your connector will behave exactly as you describe. The problem is no signal through one line. It is either debris or a failure of that line within the screen.

fault comes from touch digitizer. you may have to replace it display as LCD and touchpad both come together as a module.

I took the Iphone apart disconnected the battery first, then the 4 connectors to the screen. I then reset the 4 connectors to the screen and finally the battery. The keyboard on the screen now works perfectly!

As others mentioned I would try a new screen first, but then also try cleaning out the digitizer connection with some canned air to make sure all the pins have good contact.

Had similar problem with one of the phones. I solved the problem by constantly pushing(massaging) screen. Worked well for me.

Same thing happen to me. It is an original screen and there were a few letters not working. So annoying. Luckyly it was just a missconection of one of the cables. Took them out, blowed in both sides, pluged it back in and it works fine ! Thank you everybody:)
