Issue With Printing Smiley Faces

Hello,

For some reason, my HP LaserJet 3700DN printer is printing a line of smiley faces. Unfortunately, HP say it is the 'formatting board'. Whatever that is.

I was just wondering if there were any clued up people in the know about how to fix this issue

The issue can be described as:

-Printing on windows 8 Word displays "HP LaserJet 3700 Could Not print"

-After trying to print, turning the printer off and on again proves it to automatically print a page with 5 or 6 smiley faces along the top.

-It has all the latest drivers installed.

-It has a wired connection.

If anyone knows how this can be fixed (Preferably free (as I'm a student)), I would be HUGELY thankful as this thing is my lifeline in some situations.

Great Thanks

The formatting board is HPs way of disguising what it really is:

The main logic board!

I know of no other company in the computing business that uses this term.

Language like this was most likely instituted when now presidential candidate CARLY FIORINA was running HP into the ground. http://fortune.com/2015/08/14/carly-fior...
