TRASH BUILDUP will not empty all.

I GET A MESSAGE AFTER A SHORT TRASH REMOVE LOCKED ITEMS

OR REMOVE ALL ITEMS.WILL NOT EMPTY ALL LEAVES THOUSANDS IN THE TRASH

CAN YOU HELP ME? THANK YOU BERNIE

Your question is tough to comprehend when punctuation is left out, but I think I get the drift. Either some of the items in the trash or associated files are being used by the system, or the system isn't granting you permission to delete these files. I would suggest you check all background processes and repair disk permissions using Disk Utility. This link should help.

There are keyboard shortcuts you can use force your Mac to empty the trashthat you should try first. You can Control-click on an item in the trash and select Delete Immediately, or you can try holding down the Option key while emptying the trash.
