anyone had a sim card reader go bad?
my iphone 5 wont read a sim card from any carrier, its factory unlocked, and NO sim card works in it at all

I just read another thread where someone mentioned that in the iPhone 5, there is an ESD protection circuit that, when damaged, will inappropriately turn off the SIM card detection function. So the answer to your question is "Yes". If you need an estimate on getting it fixed, I would recommend reaching out to iPad Rehab.
