MacBook won't stay on unless a key is held down entire time

So I just bought a used macbook (2008), previous seller said he had a liquid spill over the keyboard, all keys and trackpad work, but it won't stay on unless a key, any is held down (taped down) as soon as you let key go, 3-4 seconds later it'll shut off, any ideas? This is the first mac computer I've ever owned but I'm pretty comfortable taking it apart if needed to get it fixed

Can you give us the last four digits of your systems serial number so we can correctly identify your model.

Also took it apart today and cleaned the logic board, put it all back together but problem still persist, would a faulty keyboard cause this problem? Thinking of replacing it but don't want to spend the money and remove 50+ tiny screws if that has nothing to do with the issue I'm having

Thanks in advance

Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Unibody Model A1278 Upper Case Replacement follow it on taking the bottom cover off, then jump to Step 35 on disconnecting the keyboard. You'll then need to plug in a USB keyboard and using the power pads see if the system works correctly then. If it does you will likely need to replace the compete upper case or if you are lucky you might be able to clean and repair the keyboard.
