External Case for PCIe SSD

Is there any external case for a PCIe SSD from the early 2015 MBPr?

My Macbook is broken, I want to sell it, just not with my data on the SSD.

Your system is so new I'm not sure if this will work: OWC Envoy USB 3.0 case. Give OWC a call to double check.

How bad is it? Apple might fix it for a bench fee.

Thanks, I'll have a look, if I can order the case in Germany.

Sadly Apple Germany won't fix it, because I dropped a glas of water nearby my macbook. :( Apple Germany does not fix liquid damage at all.

A 3rd party service center (Gravis) said they have repair guidelines from Apple, which force them to change every part which had contact with water - even if this could be no problem. In my case this means 1400€ (1500 US$). So I declared it as economic total loss.

Now I just want to sell the parts, but not my data. ;)

Sorry to here that. If the case works let us know. Good Luck!

Hi msc,

I'm currently having a similar situation (very similar, actually...) and was wondering if you've been able to make any progress with this? Did you end up ordering the OWC case? Or did you find an alternate solution?

Mathis

Hi Mathis, sorry for the delay.

Acually I solved it with buying a new Mac and switching the SSDs for formatting the old one. This worked out quite well, but it is surely no solution for everyone.

Even the guys at the Apple Genius Bar do not have the tools for formatting the SSDs - which is hard to believe. But this are the official words from the Genius Bar in the Apple Store in Hamburg.

Yup. Thats the only way to do it when there's no external case for it.
