Can I put in a SSD Into this system?
Can I use this SSD drive as a single drive on a mid-2007 24" Sata II iMac?
I've been reading some benchmarks that shows SSHD write speeds way below the SSD write speeds, even smaller than Sata II allows.
To ensure real improvement over my current 1TB 5400 rpm Seagate HDD (my iMac already runs Yosemite with 6GB of RAM), I wouldn't mind paying extra.
I've recently upgraded the HDD on my mid-2010 13" MBP for a 500GB EVO 840 drive, and it also runs with 16GB of RAM. THAT was real improvement. So after that, I don't think I would really feel much of a difference if I've achieved just a SLIGHT improvement with a new drive.
So I now have two options to choose from (easier for me to get right now here in Brazil): 1TB EVO 850 SSD for a great price, or a WD Black2 Hybrid (SSHD) drive (about half the price), which is a little different from others SSHD I've seen and I'm not sure if it would run on my iMac. But as I said, I want my iMac to really IMPROVE.
I've also read in one of iFixit forums the iMacs older then 2009 wouldn't have thermal sensor incompatibilities. Is this correct?
Anyway, as probably all of you are, I'm very fond my iMac and very attached to it. It's not just about improving performance while saving money, it's about enduring it as much as I can. Cause it's just so hard to let it go.
Thanks in advance for your patience and time reading this. Regards.
Is this a good question?
