Can I upgrade screen from standard to the high resolution one?

Can I upgrade screen from standard to the high resolution one on a early 2011 macbook pro 2.2GHz. Do they use the same connector, has anyone else done this?

By high resolution are you referencing the "Retina" display MacBook Pros?

Options

You can, but it is barely an upgrade. Android phones go higher than 1680x1050 so why Apple was calling this high res in 2012 is beyond me. Also the GPU on that thing will be dead any minute now so I wouldn't go about putting money into it.
