1. Go to About this mac under the apple in the upper left and click on More info

2. Click on system report

3. make a note of what it says after Model Identifier

4. go to your master drive – System -Library – Extensions – IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext -Contents – Plugins – ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext – Contents – Resources – find the name from step 3 and move it to a folder that you can find again if needed.

3. Restart and you’re done

Battery issues work off of SMC which is a micro-controller (mini computer) you have inside your system. It has its own firmware and is not controlled by OS-X. All it does is report to it and to you. Coconut battery allows you to 'see' what SMC 'see's' which it is why we always start with it. I have not seen any software driver or setting that has any effect on SMC which is why someone is way off based here. I don't know where you found this answer please post a link so I can better understand why you though it had a bearing here. If need be I'll post a note in it to correct what it states.

It looks like you installed a poor quality battery - OS X Battery Status: Poor. Please note: SMC is working correctly here as well as OS-X. You'll need to either go back to the company that sold you the battery to get a replacement if its still under warranty, or you'll need to get a new battery. Make sure buy your next battery from a reputable source. There's are a lot of junk batteries out there!

Here's a bit more on SMC: System Management Controller. Think of it this way it's the brain (micro controller) that controls all of the easy stuff within the system. It talks to the main CPU and the other devices it manages. Your issue is the battery not the SMC or any dialog between the CPU & SMC or software running on the system. Yes, there are updates for the SMC via firmware updates. Your issue has nothing to do with that. Here's the Apple T/N on checking and updating the systems firmware: EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs. For now I would wait! Until you stabilize the power as you can really mess up your system if the power is not stable (killing your system!).

hi so i schould wait till i get a new battery to test out that other stuff of smc? i will buy a new battery next week hopefully the mac store stil has some left marco

by

The firmware updates have all been for other things not battery related so its the least important action here. Please, getting a new good battery is your P1.
