Screen cracked, and now black spots appearing
The device has a thin crack, no problems with how it works. After it was left in hot car, a black dot appeared on screen, and now it is growing in size, obscuring an app icon.
Is this a good question?

sounds like the lcd has a crack, the term "screen" is problematic, some say screen to the front panel assembly (aka the touch screen) and others call the lcd a screen.
but since the "touch screen" can't get a real black dot - it must be a crack in the lcd.
you have to replace LCD and if there is also a crack on the front panel - you must replace it too.
its either oil from your hands getting onto the lcd screen or pressure points on it, I'm not sure which most people seem to think it's pressure points base on my solutions that have worked I think it's oil. First thing to do is cover it with something to stop it from growing(packaging tape worked at least as well as a screen protector on my droid x). After that, it will very slowly decrease in size by itself. If you get it cold it will speed the process along.

I have the same thing on my IPhone5c it have black spots on it and it want let me do nothing i tried to do everything and I went to put some water on it still did work so maybe try clicking home button 3 times or Try clicking the Home button 3 times (really fast). If that doesn't fix it, go to Settings/General/Accessibility/Triple-click Home, and select the "White on Black" option. Then, triple-click the Home button.
