recovering from water damage, what parts are suspect?

Son spilled water on his imac. The display is untouched and the hard drive at this point works. Right now computer is completely dead. I'm sure the mother board must be replaced. The optical drive, not sure. If I replace the mother board and processor, is it possible to ressurect the machine?

Yes. Open it up and locate the water indicator stickers to try to see what has gotten wet.

Look here: Go to the following URL and page down and you'll see a picture of the LSI sensor locations: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/...

and here:http://www.myservice.com/blog/tag/MacBoo...

Then go here: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2009) 2.53 GHz Logic Board

Go to the "More information and click on the step-by step installation instructions link.

Neither the apple insider nor the my service.com links are still working. Can you update or replace these?
