received a gift of iPad 3g

I recently was given a gift of iPad 3G 64gb and it's only updated to ISO 5 and says it's up to date... Obviously it isn't up to date because I can do anything on it or download bc it needs ISO 7... How do I get a new update?!?!

The the reason your iPad won't update is because it is the first generation iPad and they do not update after IOS 5.1.1
