Will not charge after screen replacement

I replaced the glass on my ipad 2 and am getting some strange results.

I can see that i have nicked the power button cable on top right hand side.

The device will not charge.

The volume, home and power button will not work.

My question is, if the power, mute, volume flex cable has been damaged on the top right, would this stop the device charging? Or have i damaged the logic board connector for the charger during strip down?

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Damaging the mute/power/volume flex should not stop it from charging.Does it connect to itunes? If it does we need to troubleshoot from there.First off i would suggest a hard reset but seeing as your power and home button don't work that is not an option. What is a possibility is that dock port connector has become displaced because the tape holding it down has stuck to the digitizer. This also could, but does not necessarily, interfere with the home button. This happens under the black part of the digitizer so you cant see it once installed. Seeing as the buttons don't work and it wont charge you are going to have to remove the screen anyway. I would suggest to let it drain, as you have no way of turning it off, and then carefully remove the screen, check if the tape holding the dock connector has stuck to the digitizer or seems to be out of place. 1/2

If this is the case, reinstall properly then partially return screen to proper orientation without letting the screen stick to the housing completely and plug in the ipad.

If you have power, hooray! Let it boot, check for home button function and if all is good power down the ipad remove from power and reorientate and adhere the screen making sure your lcd and digitizer are debris free. if not i would suggest you completely reinstall screen being sure to take care and check all components and motherboard. If there is no apparent damage install accordingly. If this all comes to no avail i would think it was a bad digitizer.

Also i will attach a link indicating what tape i am referring to. It is the piece of tape to right of the 2 gold points on the left half of the picture.

Thanks

Well it is not detected by itunes either,

So guess either the flex connector from charging port to the logic board has broken, or logic board connector has broken.

I cant see damage either way, guess only option is to buy a new charging port connector and test as if its the logic board the device is a write off anyway

I don't think it's necessarily broken, and you can test this before buying the part.
