My keyboard ribbon bottom finicky, won't work if I screw it back

i took off my labtop keyboard and the keyboard will only work when at a certain angle. I tried to put it back into it's proper place but either the ribbon on the bottom that is attached to the main labtop unit is crimped or not sure why it won't work when i try to put it in its proper place.
