How to find out the correct APN number of the battery?

Hello,

the battery of my iPhone 5s startet to get weak, so I decided to replace it. I ordered a new one but did not verify the correct APN number of the old battery. Unfortunately the new one is not working with the iPhone. It is not charging nor turning on. My bad, I also gave the old battery already to an recycling service.

Is there a way, I can find out the corresponding APN to my iPhone without doing trial and error byuing 5 or more different batteries?

So, I gave the iPhone to a repair shop, which is doing smd soldering. He did not find anything. The phone is working correctly.

What was actually broken? Again, the new battery. Allthough it was new, allthough it worked before, allthough it was fully charged.

Is it really that hard to find a good seller for good batteries? I mean, I bought cheap ones, I bought expensive ones, I bought at this shop, I bought at that shop...

It seems, that it is hard to find a good spareparts-shop for iPhone's in Germany.

Problem is solved now.

You know. The internet is the worse seller ever. I'm selling parts via internet too, but i have few iphones (from 3gs to 6 with icloud) and i'm testing almost all of parts which i'm selling on this phones. But i'm spending more money on parts and i have to sell them with higher price than other sellers. Anyway i'm not getting rich on theme beacause people would buy the cheapest one and they think 10$ part is same quality like 20$ part (example). Anyway bussines in Poland is very hard

With the new LCD connected to the board, remove the battery connector from the board, then put it back again, then power up the phone. See what happens. Do you see any output from the LCD?

by

Hi cnigang,

no, I do not see any output from the LCD. But as I told, it was all working properly for testing and when I moved over to swap the peripherals like prox. sensor and so on, it is now not even powering on.

Ok, I checked the logicboard with a magnifying glass and noticed, that there could be missing a smd-resistor or something. %#*@... those things are so tiny! I gave the logicboard to a repair shop, which is specialized for smd soldering, hope they find something.

I can not tell you often enough how really careful you have to be, when repairing the iPhone. I was super careful and propably it happened to me though...

I'll keep you informed...

philipp, for the 5S the APN numbers should be APN 616-0720 616-0721 616-0728. I have not come across a battery issue with the 5S but anything is possible. You may need to check other parts on your phone if a proper battery replacement will not work.

I got 2 616-0669 batteries at a local iPhone repair shop and they don't seem to work well. sometimes they work, then the unit shuts off and won't turn on. put the old bad battery in 616-0720 and it works fine but since it's really worn out, i need to use an external battery.

by

The 616-0669 is common for the 5C and will work in a 5S with the limitations you experience. Stick with batteries listed in my answer to avoid this.

Hi,

the APN of the new(not working) battery is 616-0722.

Do you think something went wrong during the replacement, when you're saying that I have to check other parts? The phone was working normally despite the fact of a weak battery. Which parts should I check?

So, I just bought a new battery with a different APN (0721).

If I install the new battery, and plug in the charging cable, the iphone will just make the charging sound again and again and again, but not turn on.

So it is alive now, but not really. Any idea's?

by

Phillip this means you have damaged the screen that's what the charging noise is indicating

by

Hi con, luckily I had a spare display left... changed to the new one... It is working! Thank you so much!!

Is this a self-diagnosis function of the iphone? Now I have to find out, why the original screen is damaged. During the "repairs" I was very careful and did not put to much stress on the cables, hmm....

Remove the battery, press power button for some seconds and then put battery again and try to power on the phone. In other case remove the lcd and find other (new) lcd and do the same thing again. In other case replace the battery and the lcd too. I had the same problem and i fixed the phone after doing all this and after some hours or searching
