Looking for power up 6Amp fuse for 820-2330 board

Hello Guys,

Hope all are doing well! I was wondering if anyone could help with locating the 6amp fuse on the 820-2330 logic board. Late 2008. The power in ac fuse! MB470. 1286A The board with the angled LVDS connector.

Thanks!

Roger

old turkey,

Maybe you can help! Looking for the PP3V42_3GH rail on board 820-2330? Also, trying to find the inductor that is supplied by that one wire rail? Think you may have a Photo of the components? Thanks! Roger

Roger, that fuse is reference designator F6905 and it is a 6amp 24V in a 1206 package. Always remember that there is a reason why the fuse may have failed. A simple replacement may not fix your issues.

Old turkey I thought that fuse only controlled the backlight? What is F6907? I just don't understand why the board wont power up at all, cd on board is good! Thanks, Roger

I'am sorry F6905!

Roger, you are absolutely right. Answer edited.

Thanks old turkey,I thought I was going crazy, cause I knew that F9800 was the backlight fuse. Ok, that sounds better, well it seems like that fuse is working fine! Any suggestions why the board doesn't get power after the fuse? Is it the infamous NVIDIA chipset? Boards not working now, any tricks up your sleeve to bring it back? Thanks again! Roger

Old Turkey can you show me where the 8amp fuse is located on the board that controls the charging system? PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR 8amp! Thanks again! Roger

That didn't blow, what is the board doing so we can figure out the real problem with it? I see boards with lightning damage and even then, that fuse does not blow. If you did manage to do something bad enough to blow that fuse, the board is toast, junk, and goes in the trash.

But I'm 99% certain that fuse is fine.

Louis,

Can't tell you much about the board, but the backlight fuse F9800 is checking out ok. When placed in case and connected no power when button is pressed. The I/O board is good. I even did a bypass of the power on button, by using the power pads. Just don't seem right, but can a bad nvidia or SMC chip cause this and how likely for these chips to fail? Thanks Louis for you expertise!

Ok, so stop looking at that fuse. Do you have green light on the charger? What voltage do you have at PPBUS_G3H?

by

Sorry Louis but can you steer me in the direction of PPBUS_G3H? Don't have a board view here! Thanks again! Roger

Louis or Old turkey,

Can you show me where on this board 820-2330 is PPBUS-G3H? Thanks a bunch. I have voltage on all the small black components with a + and - on them (don't know why they are) one side only. To recap when the power button is pressed, no response at all, no chime, no fans, but the Magsafe does show green.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Find a boardview and a schematic. Without a boardview and a schematic you cannot troubleshoot board level issues. You will never ever ever be able to fix anything on a logic board if you do not know what is going on! Next assignment is finding boardview and schematic for 820-2330.
