HP Pavilion dv6910ea laptop is hot and loud: how do I take it apart?
I bought this laptop second hand, and since purchase it has run very loud and hot all the time. It has also developed a rattle around the heatsint and fan which makes me suspicious of a lose screw.
I've never taken a laptop apart before, but think it might be necessary to get inside to remove the rattle and give the fan and heatsink a really good clean. Is this hard, and can anyone offer me any advice on doing this?
I havent disassembled this particular HP, but the one I have opened have been quite straight forward.
- Remove battery
- Undo all the screws at the bottom
- Look for screws on the side
- Look once more for screws in places
- Try to open
- Remind yourself not to use force
- Look for point where it hangs, look after screws or clips
- Decide to use force
- break a clip
- put back together
If you are patient it is very possible to avoid step 8 and 9!
If you don't find a lose screw the rattle is probably from the fan itself.
