Will not start up

Won't start up. makes a lot of (fan?) noise.

Beeps once, then light flashes slowly.

Screen stays black

Please count the flashes as they will tell us how to help you ;-) See if they flash a certain number of times and then repeat. Also, if you can, hook it up to an external monitor to check the GPU (graphics processor). Please look on the bottom of the stand to give us your exact machine along with a EMC # if you see one. Thanks

You can also open it and look at the diagnostic LEDs in the center of the logic board to find where the problem is.

And of course, you may also suffer from bad capacitors, depending on your model. There's a couple screws on the bottom of the machine; unscrew them and look at the logic board. Do you see any of the tall silver cylinders looking like the ones in the photo? If you see any that have an orangish-brown goop, you are looking at your problem.
