Spilled wine on my MBP, what are my options?

I spilled some red wine on my keyboard last year (October '14). I immediately turned the power off and flipped my machine upside down. I tried turning my machine on after a couple days, but it did not respond (although the green light came on when I plugged in the charger).

I did some research and I'm planning on cleaning the logic board with alcohol and applying new thermal paste. If that fails, I plan on baking the logic board in my oven as a last resort.

Do i have other options (other than repairs...I would rather purchase a new machine than shell out ~$500) or should I just sell for scraps? Any advice is welcome, thank you.

well definitely don't bake it--that will ruin the chance of the next person that does want to fix the board. :( :( :(

Boards are lego projects. Anyone can learn, if they are interested enough, to troubleshoot MacBook boards and solder on new chips. There are so many of the boards out there combined with so much information that it is a great place to start to learn board repair.

If you're not inclined to invest in the right equipment and figure out board repair yourself, then there are certainly options that are far more affordable than $500 for MacBook board repair.

If you do decide to just sell the dead machine, pay it forward to the next guy who wants to learn and don't mess it up by baking it. There is no theory where baking a board will restore water damaged components. You just have to find those bad legos, pop off the bad, pop on the good---it will be like it never happened.
