backlight not working are there any methods of repair before replacin

I'm stuck the phone as operating perfectly then went black. All functions still work. The screen is very hard to see without the backlight. Help

if you are thinking about a warranty replacement by apple, you only have 2 things to try - a hard reset (press and hold the home and the sleep button for around 10 seconds - the phone will restart)

if that won't work, try to restore it with itunes.
