Why does my screen light up, but is blank?

So I dropped my phone in the toilet last night, and the bottom half was submerged for maybe 3 seconds. The screen was working afterwards but slightly flickering, and so i just powered it off and took out the battery until this morning, when I tried powering it on. The phone screen was flickering but working and then it stabilized, but then ran out of battery so I charged the phone and retried powering it on. The screen lights up but stays black, with a little red line near the middle where the LG logo usually is on powerup. The touchscreen works and I can feel the vibration feedback from the phone. I'm wondering whether there is anything else I can do besides bag it in rice and wait and pray to God something good happens. Thanks!

this "bag it in rice" is absolutely useless. This "pray to God" will be more useful than the rice. Rice does not do anything but gives you a false sense of security. As with any submersion, the first thing you want to do is to not try to turn it on. Remove the battery and do not try to charge it or sync it with your computer. Disassemble your phone using these guides. Clean every part with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Check for any shorted or missing component. Clean every board and cable connector. After you are certain you cleaned it properly, replace the battery and reassemble your phone. Then you checked for any further damage.
