Why can't I fax?

I have no problem printing from my computer but when I try to fax or try to print something by loading it directly onto the glass I get a message saying that there is a paper jam. I am able to copy when I feed it through the top. I have watched the videos and I have done everything including cleaning my machine. Any ideas?
