Which way does the display cable face?

The LCD display data cable popped out of its seat/socket when I opened my iMac before could see how it is supposed to go back in. Now my display isn't working, but I want to make sure I am plugging it back in the correct way.

Do the "teeth" face in or out?

Unfortunately the locking hinge swings both ways, so that doesn't help.

First image is "side B" with "Teeth". Second image is "side A" for reference.

Resolved this myself by untagging the top of the data cable from the lcd and unplugging it so I could see what I was doing. It only fits with "teeth out" (teeth away from mother board).

That Side A is faced inside. So that so called 'Teeth' is facing you.

Look at step #7 of this guide: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2389 Display Replacement

If the cable is attached to the display it can only be correctly attached one way without twisting the cable. My hand is to large to connect this easily. The cable is to short to be easily handled by a grown man. It was probably installed by a little 4'10" 85 lb Chinese woman. So I get a smaller person to help do this one while I hold the display to keep it from falling.

I'm a big man and I have no issues connecting those. ;P

Just a tip. Tape the bottom so it will not slip off. :)

Well, I'm getting old and maybe just can't put it in as well as I used to be able to. Or maybe I just like the girl who puts it in for me ;-) Do you put the tape on before or after you put it in?

LOL! ;)

For the newer models, We use a wedge to retain the display at a tilted angle. Then sit the display and tape it. So when I open to slot the cable in, the LCD won't slide off.

For the older models, I support with my left hand and open just enough for my hands to fit in.
