My computer doesn't start

Hello, I have made several experiments with my Macbook Pro 17" unibody mid 2009.

Here a list of the events in chronological order:

1 Initially it randomly shut down when opening from suspended. When this happened I struggled turning it on again as it was often times shutting down as soon as the logo appeared on the screen.

2. Occasionally my computer used to shut down when using it. Same problem mentioned above when trying to turn it on.

3. Computer did not do anything anymore after shutting down by iself... I could not turn it on. Tried the SMC reset, after two hours I managed to turn it on back again, still by going through several shutdowns as mentioned on point 1.

4. Computer did not turn on anymore at all... SMC reset did nothing.. Unplugged battery, unplugged power (which always turned on green or orange when connected). Pressed and held power button for 6 seconds, then plugged power keeping the power button. Released and pressed the power button again, computer started. with fans full throttle.. Shut down, plugged battery back in. turned on going through all the numerous shutdowns as in point 1. Repaired permissions, repaired disk (which didn't have major problems). Computer worked for a couple of days.

5. Computer doens't turn on anymore... there is nothing that I can do. I have unplugged the hard disk, as well as its cable, it keeps not turning on.

I was told it may be IFE or the logic board.

I would appreciate if you could give me any advices to help me understand what I should do next in order to fix it.

Thanks in advance :)

This is tough without known good parts to exchange. The first thing I would try is to pull one of the RAM sticks, next ZAP the PRAM on the first restart by holding down the P & R, command and option keys, continue holding these keys and see if it will restart twice. Let us know your results.

Thanks, well, today I managed to make it start again. I have removed every single component and cleaned all the contacts.

I still see it struggling as it often shuts down when I turn it on (roughly when the Apple logo appears).

As for the PRAM I have already tried, also I know the problem is not caused by the RAM, that works nicely.

I believe it must be something related to the power, any points? :)

Did you do it exactly as I recommended or just poo poo me?

It was impossible to do exactly as you recommended because the computer did not do anything when pressing the power button.

I suggest unplugging the battery, plugging in your charger ant toughing the power-pads together, with acts as a system AUTOMATIC on-button, with a small flat head.

Thanks. I will keep this trick in mind for the next intervention.

I opened everything, removed every component, cleaned all contacts and not it seems to be working nicely.
