Knob for settings won't turn off water

This is an older model and when I turned it on for the first time it flooded the utility room. I turned off the water and checked for any leakage but there was none. I reset and ran a full cycle with no problem. However, when I waited about 15 minutes after the cycle completed, the water started to flow into the machine and the knob wouldn't shut it off no matter what setting I had it on. Do I need a new knob for this? Thank you

Washwoman, remove your top console and take a look on the left side to check and see if and see if the hose is off the switch. If it i, reconnect it. Check to see if it still overflows. If it does, you most likely will need a need a pressure switch. If you give us your model number, we might be able to get more information on the actual job.
