Re-activation of 1st gen iPhone, SIM card switch back and forth

I had a 1st Gen iPhone. I bought a 3G iPhone. At the AT&T store the clerk switched the SIM card, old to new.

Now I want to use the 1st Gen iPhone for games and wifi.

Tried new SIM card, won't activate.

Purchased and tried a unlock/jail break program. Total failure

(and a miserable way to waste a few hours)

From another post I was lead to a apple support doc that says you can do this (use old phone for wifi) but must have original SIM card to activate without having to create a new AT&T account.

So, the question is, if I take sim card A, out of iPhone B (3g), put sim card "A" into original iPhone A (1st gen), activate iPhone A, take sim card A out of iPhone A and put it back into iPhone B, will iPhone B work as normal?

The program was "UnlocktheiPhone" charges processed through a company, SWREG out of Eden Prairie MN. No phone numbers on the site, No response to email requests for questions about the product prior to purchase. No support after the purchase. Unclear instructions. One downloads something to one's computer. One is instructed to revert firmware back from 3.1 to 3.0.1 and sent to a website, "Jaxov".

(Which might be a good name for a adult entertainment site but is a juvenile re-direct for a paid product to use. It's not professional and shows someone who doesn't take their business seriously)

At the Jaxov site one is given instructions to do the revert 3.0 - 3.1, but that all presumes that your phone is activated. I think the purveyors of the product assume that your iphone is active. You can't even "play", you can't even "get in the game", if your phone is not active. (oh and by the way no one tells you that)

What I want is a program that identifies my iphone automatically, takes control of the iphone as if it were any other peripheral device. Removes whatever firmware exists and installs what ever firmware I want.

As I recall I paid around $400 for the iphone, I see it as a pocket computer and I should be able to use it as such.

surely - it's bad enough that they sell freeware (QuickPwn) but at least it was a working program. i know there are programs that skip the activation part. what firmware do you want to use ?

what program did you try to "hacktivate" (unlock/jailbreak) the iphone ?

i did something like that too and it worked - maybe you got a "bad" software for that.

Right when you plug in the first gen phone, hold the home button until it comes up on itunes. choose to restore it.
