Can I swap motherboard with a more recent version?

Hi there,

So i've got a malfunctioning motherboard due to waterdamage. I can't get any backlight onto the screen although there is images present, which you can see when using a flashlight.

I don't want to buy a new macbook, or have the money for it.

I want to replace the motherboard and i was thinking of installing a newer version of the motherboard, if possible.

MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.6 GHz Logic Board

I was thinking of this motherboard since it would be a big upgrade. I know the RAM will have to be changed as well.

Do any of you know if this is possible? Will the other parts (except for the RAM) be compatible? Will all the connections be compatible and will they be in the same place (thinking of short cables)? Will my system boot (I've installed an SSD, recently)?

Thank you for your advice!

You are limited with what you can swap out to the other systems within the series your system is part of. Here is the series lookup: MacBookPro8,2 of your system.

And can you tell me why the 2012 non-retina-models aren't compatible?

by

Apple moves things around between the series so it's not likely it would fit correctly. Sure give it a try just be prepared it might not fit or work.

I did and i found the 6 compatible ones. But what won't be compatible that is what i don't find.
