Screw in hard drive bay stripped -- what can I do?

Hello,

I'm trying to replace a hard drive in an HP Elitebook 6930p, but the screw is stripped and it is going nowhere. I've tried the rubber band method, I've tried using completelydifferent screwdrivers, and I've even tried getting rid of the screw using needle nose pliers. Nothing worked. I don't have a drill, so I guess that's out of the question, unfortunately...

What can I do to get rid of this screw?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hey mate, there are a few options you can still try and when it comes to hard drives, a drill is far from a good idea. I'd suggest using a dremel to cut a slot in the screw but I don't know if you own one.

A few things I do when this happens is, I try flat and Philips heads screw drivers of numerous sizes, a pair of screw extracting pliers like these; Screw Extracting Pliers using a file to cut a slot in the screw head (be very careful as metal filings will be near sensitive electronics) and finally applying a bit of superglue to the head of the screw and put the right (or one that now fits) screwdriver into the head, letting the glue set on both the head and driver, then slowly twisting it.

I hope one of these helps you out
