I have a blank screen, how do I fix this?

The model experienced a minor water spill via the rear vents. After drying out the model, the system turned on and the display, everything worked great for over 6 hours. After adjusting the display brightness up via the F2 key, the display went black shortly thereafter..

Attempted all of the on/off tricks, including clearing the startup ram, so now it voices to hit the return key to run the setup in English (annoying).

External Sony TV and Samsung LCD display were blank. The TV stated that no signal was detected.

Plugged in iPhone 5S on both left and right USB ports, received buzz on startup for both, yet no charging indication.

Please assist me in determining what I need to replace or be looking at. Thank you, I do appreciate your input and suggestions.

Not good ;-{ That minor water spill was no so minor.

At this point it sounds like you have a few different things burnt. Without doing a full inspection it will be hard to answer. It also gets into how deep do you feel comfortable in repairing your computer. Do you have the right equipment and skills? This maybe too much to take on as your first repair.

If you want to give it a go review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Logic Board Replacement. This should give you an idea how far you will likely need to go.

In any case take the bottom cover off and take a look around the back edge do you see any staining or burnt parts? Take a few hires pictures and post them here so we can see.

That board is over $700 from reputable sources, so if you have to replace the board it goes in the trash.

Does it chime when it turns on? That Apple dong?

Can you see caps lock go on and off when you turn it on once it is in the OS? Can you ever see caps lock going in and out?

You'll have to remove the bottom and take real pictures(no cellphone cam $@$*!) of both sides of the board, no blur, in each section, so we can get a look at the damage. Displayport circuitry is right by the edge, U8300 is right by the edge as well which powers the LCD which is probably fried. One way to find out though, open the bottom, take pictures, take out multimeter and let's get to work.

Hi guys, thank you very much for your positive feedback, resources and tips!

I am very comfortable with repairs :D I researched logic board prices today and was a little skeptical on sources - thank you for the price reference on the logic board. Do you have any retailers that you recommend purchasing the board from in case I do a self repair?

I am suspecting that it is the graphics card on the logic board. Apple Support via Chat also suggested the same after running through the symptoms.

- Apple Chimes with no problems

- Green Caps Lock Functions, Does not fade in/out.

- External HD Lights Up in both USB Ports

I will certainly update here with pictures (definitely not the bad kind) if I do end up opening it. Due to the cost of the logic board, I will likely opt for repair through insurance when Apple finds the obvious moisture sensors!

There is no graphics chip on this logic board. If Apple live chat suggested it is a graphics chip then they are &&^&^$^ idiots as well.

Check for 5v on L8300 and for power on pin 1 of LCD connector. If you seen burns on the board in this area when you go to measure, you have your answer.
