Chosen Solution

“Blank/Black Screen” on a Gateway Laptop
Ridiculous problem.

Simple fix.

This works 90% of the time.
Turn on Laptop. The tiny blue light means it’s on.

Top left corner of the keyboard.

The button next to “Esc”.

Labeled “LCD” - Better known as “F1”.

Press it.

All good?

I hope it was that simple.
I also hope someone at Gateway does the company a favor and removes that button.

3 possiblities:

1-bad ram module

2-remove ALL power supply to unit. Battery, power cord. Push and hold power button for 60 seconds. Try it now.

3-bad inverter board or backlight bulb.

Are you saying to replace it ? Or just take it out and try to start it?

by

@kcitissues

The idea is to reseat the memory module(s) i.e. remove/replace, in case it is a faulty connection between the memory module and the motherboard preventing the laptop from passing POST.

Be sure to disconnect or remove the laptop's battery before removing/replacing the module(s) to avoid damaging them electrically.
