Is there a light on LCD Display?

is thee a light on LCD Display? Its balck screen working fine on external monitor. But on iMac is can see that the screen is just black but i can see windows of finder and other things which are open.

PS. I have it on mirror the display with external monitor

Yes, your LCD has a light source. And from what you are describing it is no longer working.

To make sure shine a flashlight at the front at a sharp angle you should see the faint outlines of the desktop icons. If that is the case you will need to either replace the inverter and/or CFL lamps.

Update

As for the part you'll need to give us the last four digits of your serial number so we can give you the correct part number.

Thanks Dan. That is exactly I was looking for and I can see the faint desktop icons and open windows. Inverter and/or CFL Lamps? How do I find the compatible for my version of iMac.
