Hey guys i was doing a digitizer replacement on a 4s and have had some dramas with a ribbon ripping, which i cant identify from any diagrams. It is the ribbon which sits under the headphone jack/volume button. what is this please?

A picture would be great but it sounds like you are talking about your Volume button / headphone jack ribbon cable. If it is torn you will need to replace it.
