How can I fix my broken Micro-USB charging port?

I bought a galaxy s3 a few months ago and everything was fine until my phone stop charging and acting strange. I bought a new battery (from IFIXIT), and I bought a new charger (the voltage is the same), but it still has trouble charging. I believe the issues is with the phone's charging port. I want to fix just the port, but I believe the port is attached to the motherboard and I don't want to replace the motherboard ($200) just for a $2 charging port. So, my question is: Is it possible for me to change the charging port without buying a new motherboard? And if it is possible do I need to solder it to the existing motherboard?

Yes, it's possible to change the charging port only and you actually need to solder it on the existing motherboard.
