2012 MacBook Pro 15 shows no sign of life after touchpad swap

After following a guide on this website, I switched out my malfunctioning touchpad with a new one. Everything went fine, no forcing, no damage, all ribbon cables are fine etc. But, once put back together, it shows no signs of life. The power button gets no response. They battery indicator lights on the side show no response. The magsafe adapter doesn't even light up when plugged in. I have tried the SMC reset but that has gotten no response either.

Any suggestions? I can take it to the Apple store, but I would rather avoid the cost/embarrassment if possible.

Thanks

Double check the keyboard ribbon cable is fully inserted and you opened and closed the latch correctly. Try using a small piece of electricians tape to help pull the cable into place.

The only other thing I can think off is ESD. Did you use a ESD mat & wrist strap which was properly grounded? During the winter and early spring the air is quite dry so static is a big problem. It doesn't take much to kill a system.
